Hi, My Name is Renee & I'm a Thrift Store Addict...

Wanna know a secret? I'm a bargain hunter. I love flea markets, yard sales, and most of all thrift shops. I can't tell you how many great things I've found on the hunt for steals and deals. I'm not an imaginative person when it comes to re-purposing thrift store finds, so I usually only buy things that are ready to use as they are. One day, I will be brave enough to try some of the Pinterest tips and tricks for bringing new life to out of date pieces like this chalk paint table from Goodwill...

...or this adorable upcycled dresser drawer from Ava Blake @ Ava Blake Creations.

In the meantime, I'll just settle for ready to use pieces that I find! Check out this great art print I picked up last night. I'm not all that crazy about the frame so I might try to do something cool with it, but I just adore the subject matter so I couldn't pass it up!

A good find, in my opinion!

I'd love to hear about your thrift store projects and finds, so please share in the comment section below!

  1. Wonderful post, Renee! Buying used stuff works on so many levels (recycling, low cost, helping others, etc). I also like to discover things at thrift stores (and antique shops). It's fun to find cool stuff that can be altered (paint can work wonders!) or used the way it is. I've even found some great, classic books at thrift shops! :)

    1. I love finding vintage books even though it's been a while since I last bought one. I LOVE antique shops too, Suko. There's an antique mall about 45 min. from my house that has some really unique stuff. Love it!

  2. Oooo me too! I'm addicted.

    Nice find!

    I love it.

You know it would look really cute painted black or white and then distressed so the gold shows through. ;)

    1. That is such a great idea! I think it would really pop with a white distressed frame!

  3. Nice find! I would love to restore something or turn it into something fun, but since I know that won't ever happen in my world, I just like looking at the stuff people recreate :)

  5. Ohhhhh leave that print to me in your will. Pretty please? LOL ;) I would be super happy to have something like that though. As I'm pretty sure you know, I'm a musical/NYC/Broadway addict XD

I'm with you though....I'm not creative enough to do anything cool. We really don't have thrift shops around here. Seriously! Not even kidding in the slightest. So I don't think I'd be good at it....but I do know how to shop a bargain, boy, do I ever! It looks like fun though :)

    1. I couldn't resist it since it featured some of my favorite shows! While I've never actually seen the shows on Broadway I love the stories so I just HAD to buy this! It stinks that you don't have any thrift stores in your neighborhood. In my part of the world it's a big thing LOL! At least you're a bargain shopper so you will be prepared if you ever come upon a thrift store. ;-)

  6. Oh yea, you are speaking to my weak spot right now. I am in the process of redecorating my bedroom since I moved in to a bigger space and I have been hitting up thrift stores, discount shops and hunting DIY projects on Pinterest. Can't wait until I have my own house to really go crazy with. I love love love the upcycled dresser drawer idea. Have you seen the show "Flea Market Flip"?

    1. Oooo I'll bet the redecorating process is a blast! My room is realllllly overdue, I think I was in high school the last time I did something with it. Pinterest is THE spot to go to if you want ideas for DIY. They have everything over there. I actually have seen the show Flea Market Flip, they do some crazy stuff turning the ugliest things into masterpieces. I wish I had that kind of talent...
